There are various phases of development of a digital product:

Conceive

Collection of problems with the user and brainstorming solutions. Everything begins with identification of the problem. One can begin this by interviewing a small set of customers via a focus group or personal interview. List down all the problems and try to find the best possible solution.

Plan

Market research with the competition, what kind of products are already available. How and where can you differentiate? Customer Interviews to finalize the initial framework developed. Creating a road map of the development activities and launch and interaction with the sales and legal teams.

Develop

Making the business document for the product. This will include the functional and non-functional requirements which are to be incorporated in the product. User stories generation and working in agile methodology. Usually a BRD (Business Requirements Document) is prepared to have everything documented.

Iterate

The early prototype is often called MVP (Minimum viable product), this product is tested with the assumptions and requirements listed in the BRD. Continuous process to keep the features getting better.

Launch

The digital product is now launched and presented to the users. Marketing, sales and legal teams come together to make sure this is smooth and in the lines of the regulation requirements of the government.

Steady State

Collecting the metrics of how the product is doing and further improvements and developments if required.

Maintain/ kill

If the product is not solving the problem then it is slowly killed. But mostly if the product is a hit it is continuously worked on to create better features so that the users like using it.
